Standard-by-Standard Reports
Syracuse University’s status with respect to each of the seven Standards for Accreditation appears in the sections below. An eighth section of this chapter provides a summary with respect to the Requirements of Affiliation and Compliance with Accreditation-Relevant Federal Regulations. Each section below follows a common and consistent format:
- Reproduction of the brief description of the standard as described in Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation (Thirteenth Edition);
- Summary declaration of Syracuse University’s standing with respect to the standard;
- Enumeration and overview of criteria for which Syracuse University has satisfactory or exemplary status, including references to key supporting documents available to reviewers in the electronic document repository (what Middle States sometimes refers to as the “document roadmap”);
- Discussion of criteria (if any) for which Syracuse University has need for special improvement initiatives, including references to key supporting documents and to the formal recommendations elaborated on in Chapter 5 of this document.
Note that this self-study is packed with citations that refer to supporting documents. We adopted a standard citation and referencing format to assist reviewers with their efforts. For example: the citation “I.1.002.Trajectory to Excellence,” refers to Standard I, part 1, document 002, with the descriptive title, “Trajectory to Excellence.” In some versions of this self-study, automatic links can bring the reader directly to a view of the supporting document. In situations where the document roadmap/repository is stored separately, the naming convention ensures that reviewers can quickly locate the cited document from a list.
